Visiting Charleroi...

After my dad's funeral we got the chance to see Charleroi for the first time in a long time last week. It was fun and somewhat comforting to be there with so many family members. Some of us went for a walk and took a photo in front of the house my great grandparents built. It is still there, but the town has fallen on difficult economic times. I don't think they get many tourists there, and I am guessing that if anyone saw us touring the neighborhood, they'd have wondered WTH?

This building was owned by our great grandfather. He had a respectable office here. The pool hall and speak easy were a few blocks away. We haven't figured out yet where that establishment was. The place is for sale right now if anyone is interested. I guess hair designs wasn't a big trendsetter.

Same place (?) back in the day.

I don't know, maybe we got the wrong house.

Here's a link if anyone needs retail space in my great grandfather's old building...
